ADIPOCYTE LIFE CYCLE: Process

Step 1: the grand idea

I have always been interested in everything about obesity. I am especially interested in taking scientific knowledge surrounding obesity to a lay audience in order to stress the serious health implications of their condition. In this poster, I go through the life cycle of an adipocyte and describe the molecular consequences of obesity at each stage of the life cycle.

Countless hours of research were involved in the creation of this poster.

I was also excited to use ZBrush and Keyshot to create molecular models with interesting textures and lighting.

Step 2: the impactful design

To take my piece from the sketch stage to the final poster stage, I made different color compositions.

I also made sure to pay attention to the flow of my poster, since the purpose was to tell a clear story to an audience that is unfamiliar with this information.

After deciding on the color composition, I put together a first draft of the poster.

Step 3: the tangible visual

In the final draft of the poster, I refined models, made some color decisions, and improved the graphic design.

I went back into Keyshot to highlight the textures of the models to emphasize the difference between the mesenchymal and adipocyte cell types. Additionally, I added a motion blur to the apoptotic adipocyte to grab the reader’s attention.

I also pushed the colors of the models and the background to create more depth in the poster. Lastly, I modified the graphic elements in the poster to create a cleaner design.
